A Note from Kristin about the ASHA Schools Conference

December 31st, 2009 | by admin

Hello, everyone. The ASHA Schools Conference was a great experience.  The courses were very interesting. The subjects ranged from play and language development to using active engagement in teaching vocabulary and language within the classroom. Those of us who were looking for information on implementing Response to Intervention were not disappointed.

I had a great time meeting everyone and playing Verbal Volley at the Mindfull Games booth between classes. This was the first conference where attendees wanted to try playing Verbal Volley in two languages simultaneously! I guess school-based SLPs are a bunch of polyglots. I knew many SLPs were using Verbal Volley for individual therapy, but I was happy to find out that we are filling a need for fun, classroom-based intervention for vocabulary, literacy and word finding. Thank you to everyone for your positive feedback. I hope you enjoy using the lesson plans I provided and that you keep the suggestions coming.
